Position Summary
New Life Clinic is seeking to hire a versatile Medical Assistant who loves taking on a challenge and being part of an aligned, committed team. We are looking for a Medical Assistant who demonstrates patience and compassion since our clinic often sees patients when they are feeling their worst. It is important that our staff believes in our patients so they can learn to believe in themselves. A nonjudgmental approach is key.
While a kind heart is a requirement, an organized mind is also needed for this position. As Medical Assistant, you will prepare lab samples, keep track of medical supplies and inventory, respond to patient inquiries, maintain the lab area, and perform back-office duties. This role is crucial to maintaining accurate records as our program is built on a scientific approach to addiction medicine and this clinic will be highly regulated by credentialing agencies. Key Responsibilities
Report directly to Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner on patient medical issues.
Collect body fluid samples for patients being admitted to treatment.
Prepare and maintain urinalysis, oral toxicology swabs, urine drug screen collection schedules and document results in master file.
Administer TB, pregnancy, and breath alcohol tests to appropriate patients.
Refer and follow-up on patients with positive TB tests to ensure chest X-ray has been completed.
Measure and record vital signs.
Patient preparation.
Prepare samples for the lab.
Perform nasal swabs, urinalysis.
Keep track of all medical supplies and inventory.
Maintain the lab area.
Respond to patient inquiries via phone and email.
Call in results and refill authorization ordered by Physician.
Organize supply pick-up with medical staff.
Sterilize instruments.
Perform clerical, receptionist, and communication functions for the clinic as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Training Support
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent to diploma (college degree preferred).
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or 4 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting.
2-3 years' experience working within an outpatient medical clinic setting.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Spreadsheets and other electronic computer programs.
Ability to maintain records and files.
Ability to navigate an EHR system.
Ability to work the hours and days required by position, including daily 5:30 am start times.
Current First Aid/CPR certification required.
Knowledge of Community Resources
Experience conducting insurance verification.
Experience in outreach and inter-agency referral services preferred.
